Film Review – The Strangers (2008)

I have debated whether to write a review for this film or not. The screening of ‘The Strangers’ that I was in, seemed to be filled to the brim with the dregs of society. I felt as though I was sat in a youth club, with not many people seeming to be 15 or over. With every jump and scare in the film, the whole audience burst with laughter and talked loudly for what seemed like a long time after. With quite a lot of scares, there was a lot of laughter, and a lot of LOUD talking. In fact I can’t think of the last time I had an experience as bad as I had tonight in a cinema screen. Because of this bad experience, my judgement on the film maybe skewed, but now I know what happens I don’t think re-watching it would benefit.

Film Review – Michael Clayton (2007)

Film Review – The Kingdom (2007)

Since ‘The Kingdom’ was released at the cinema, I’ve wanted to see it, but thanks to reasons unknown I didn’t get the chance to during its original release. So came the waiting for it to be released on DVD, that time came around and I still didn’t get around to getting a copy and seeing it. Finally I managed to get the film through my door and still I didn’t watch it. What is up with me? So tonight I eventually put it on and sat and watched… and I am glad I did.

Film Review – Rambo (2008)

For reasons quite unknown to me I decided to watch the latest installment in the Rambo series tonight. Somehow, in my near 22 years I haven’t seen any of the previous films, so I went into this without any nostalgia for the character, other than second hand excitement from others when I was a kid in school.

I’ve also added some links to some of the blogs and podcasts I follow. I’ll likely add more of these later.

A Brave New World

Hello blogging world.

I guess the first thing for me to post that would make sense would be an introduction. My name is Andrew Brown, I am 21 from South Shields in the North-East of England. I am currently a student at Staffordshire University doing a degree in Film Production Technology (BSc). It is an ambition of mine to become a film-maker, and I believe my current strengths are cinematography and editing.

Along with film-making I am a keen amateur photographer, though as a student I can’t afford all the cool gear I want to use. I am a Canon shooter myself and my lowly 350D has served me well so far.

Before I made this blog I have been thinking about what I would write in a blog and what it would generally be about. And rather than focus on a particular topic I figured I’d blog on all the things that interest me, so this will range from things that are going on in my own life, along with things that catch my eye in the worlds of tech, film, photography etc. as well as my own film reviews and thoughts. So likely an eclectic selections of topics that hopefully won’t become mindless sludge.

Now I know this post is a little bit sludge-like in itself but I hope to make sure future posts more focused.
